1) If he hadn't left his footprints on table, he wouldn't be in prison now.

DISMAL - gloomy

CRUNCH - crisis, lack of money.

KNEE-DEEP - legs covered with something that reaches one's knees.
1) I was walking on snow knee-deep.
2) My friend is stuck inside it knee-deep.

COMPOUND - aggregate of buildings located in the same place.
1) She lives in a new compound.
2) A new compound is being built nearby.

SLOPE - slant, cant
1) There are three slopes in short proximity.
2) Tom sloped and said something underhand to his mother.
